Use keyword checks without chasing an ATS score

What the check measures

A keyword checker compares text you supply with words or phrases in a job description. It can help you notice that your resume does not mention an important skill you genuinely have. It cannot see an employer's private screening rules, assess every document parser, or predict an interview invitation.

GlobalCVHUB's recovered checker describes itself as a browser-based check of contact details, measurable results, standard sections and job-description keywords. Treat its score as feedback from this tool's own rules. It is not a score issued by Workday, Greenhouse, an employer or a recruiter.

Run a useful comparison

1. Copy the actual vacancy description, including required responsibilities and skills.
2. Paste the text of the version of your resume you intend to submit.
3. Read missing terms alongside the original vacancy. Separate essential requirements from examples and optional preferences.
4. For a skill you have, add a concrete example in the relevant experience or project. For a skill you do not have, leave it out.
5. Read the whole resume again. If the wording has become repetitive or unnatural, simplify it.

The useful edit adds evidence and context. It gives a person something to discuss rather than hiding a list of terms in the document.

Understand false positives and missing context

A checker may miss an abbreviation, plural or synonym. It may also count a word without understanding it: “observed a SQL training session” does not demonstrate the same ability as building and testing a query. A high match can therefore be less useful than a lower match backed by strong examples.

Repeated words, invisible text and copied vacancy paragraphs do not make your experience stronger. They can make the resume confusing or misleading. Do not include claims merely to improve the displayed number.

Keyword analysis also does not prove that a PDF's reading order is correct. Inspect the exported document, copy out its text and check the employer's format requirements separately.

Use a decision checklist after scanning

• True: Can I support each statement with a real example?
• Relevant: Does the example connect to an actual responsibility in the role?
• Readable: Can someone understand the sentence without decoding a list of buzzwords?
• Complete: Are contact information, relevant dates and requested documents present?
• Consistent: Do the application form, resume and portfolio tell the same story?

If the checker disagrees with a clear and accurate statement, prefer accuracy. Ask another person to review the document when possible. An automated check is one step in preparation, not permission to submit without reading.
